Webgains Program Tracking (Shopify App) Privacy Policy

Webgains Program Tracking “the App” provides the ability to track affiliate program activity and conversions by merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. Preconditions for any use of this app is a separate agreement with Webgains for joining the affiliate marketing program. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.

Personal Information the App Collects

When you download and install the app, we will automatically receive the following information: IP-Address, your Advertiser-Shop-ID, Shopify-Script-tags in connection with a timestamp.

When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account. This data processing takes place by Webgains as your processor as agreed on in a separate agreement. To sum it up, the following information will be processed:

“Shopify Admin API Oauth” – Returns Store ID, Token, for communication with Shopify once approved by the Advertiser store user.

“Graphql API – admin/api/2021-10/script_tags.json” – Returns the scriptTagID to be used to store the scripts we add to the advertiser’s store, so we can remove them again on uninstall.

Information about individuals who visit your stores, such as their IP address, web browser details, time zone, and information about the cookies, cache reference ID installed on the particular device.

Information required for Webgains affiliated transaction data: transaction ID, program id, order reference number, order totals, shipping, voucher codes, item prices, item discounts, order timestamp.

Further personal information collected directly from the relevant individual, through your Shopify account, by using “Cookies”, “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and further data collected including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. Please be aware that you are the controller of this data collected and must ensure that this processing is based on consent as legal basis.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the personal information we collect to provide the Service and to operate the App. Webgains is doing this as your processor as agreed on separately.  

Sharing Your Personal Information

As processor we will share this data only on your instruction. As agreed in the legal framework and further detailed in the joint control agreement, you as controller will transfer certain client data to Webgains.

Your Rights

Your Rights If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfil contracts we might have with you, or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.

Data Retention: regarding personal data processed as your processor: it is up to you as controller to decide about any data retention. Regarding data collected by Webgains as controller – when downloading the app – a data deletion takes place 90 days after the App has been uninstalled, to allow for users to return to the last install point.

Changes We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
