Programme description
Forever Unique is a luxury fashion brand specialising in ladies occasion wear. Established by Seema Malhotra and her husband Sandeep in 2008, Forever Unique has paved the way for accessible and affordable designer fashion, being a go-to brand for celebrities on the red carpet.
Seema Malhotra lives in Cheshire with Sandeep and their youngest son, Aaron, 17, who is embarking on his A-level studies. Their eldest son Neil, 20, currently lives in Milan and studies Fashion Marketing and Business. Since she was a child, Seema was surrounded by clothes because her older cousin studied Fashion Design. Seema would watch in awe as her cousin sketched and transformed pieces of fabric into ready-to-wear dresses. It was at this moment that Seema knew she wanted to follow in her cousin’s footsteps and become a Fashion Designer.
After completing her A-levels, Seema went on to study Fashion and Design (BA) at the University of Salford. Excelling in every aspect of her degree, she was invited for an interview at Central Saint Martins in London to undertake an Art foundation course, but her parents discouraged her from making the move to the capital.
Seema decided to take a year out and it was then that she met Sandeep Malhotra – who was helping to run his parent’s fashion empire, involving buying and selling in London, Paris and Turkey – and one year later they got married. Seema supported Sandeep through his career, living as a housewife in their Cheshire home. Through his journey, Seema realised that she could start her own fashion business. After working with Sandeep as an agent for French and Italian fashion brands, she began to open doors to a number of niche boutiques.
Seema Malhotra’s inspiration came from the glamorous supermodels of the late 1980s, including Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. This gave her the drive to set out to reinvent the glamorous woman of today. She went on to design a capsule collection of 10 dresses and travelled the world for inspiration for producing her collection. It was at this point that Forever Unique was born. Within one week, Seema’s designs had sold out and she continued to expand the collection to over 200 pieces, as it stands today.
