Chloe is one of our Senior Account Managers here at Webgains. She has worked in various forms of digital marketing over the last seven years both stateside and in the UK and has been with Webgains for just over a year. Originally from Chicago, she’s lived in London for the past 3 years with her husband and cat with the hopes of gaining her British Citizenship in 2022!
Hey Chloe! First thing’s first, how do you like to start your working day?
With our entire team taking the government’s advice and working from home, the real start to my working day is my new mini “commute”, which is a mile walk around the green by my flat. This allows me to separate my working day from my normal home life, which has been key to being able to come back home and jump immediately into work. As I work with our US publishers and advertisers, the first hour or so of my day is reviewing emails that came in during US working hours.
Sounds like a great way to start your day! What you do at Webgains and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
I am Senior Account Manager of our US Network. I manage the key Webgains US publisher and advertiser relationships, as well as representing Webgains at top US affiliate events. You would come to me on any advice on the US market, from current trends, top publishers, contact information and recommendations on tenancies!
Who would you say has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
My parents. They helped instil a strong work ethic from a young age. From my first job at an ice cream shop to my current role, they are still the first people I turn to for advice on handling situations.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
The coolest thing I am working on right now is actually a person. We just hired a new starter who will be helping me manage the US publisher and advertiser relationships. It’s been great watching my mini US department double in size from just me, and hopefully we will continue to grow!
Amazing! We love welcoming new employees to our ever-growing teams too! As we have just passed your 1-year Anniversary here at Webgains, what has been your experience at working here so far?
I have had a great time. I am not new to the affiliate world by any means, but this is my first experience working with a smaller network. The collaboration across all teams and the willingness to help goes above and beyond daily. And the fact that I get to use my US expertise while living in London, it’s like the job was custom built for me!
It definitely was! Can you tell us Chloe, what’s a mistake that you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?
Very early on in my career, I forgot to run validations for a massive client which amounted to millions of dollars. The first thing I did was own up to it, and that was when I learned that everyone makes mistakes, most things are fixable (even if it takes ages and is very manual), and most importantly, always set calendar reminders for the monthly tasks you have to do!
Top tip there Chloe, how about one thing that surprised you about working at Webgains?
The innovation. I have worked with networks in the past that have been non transparent about upcoming products and launch dates. I have found the Webgains is always coming up with new, innovative ideas, and the fact that we are a smaller network allows more people to be involved in their creation. This has led to some fantastic products already, and many more soon to come!
Absolutely and we are looking forward to those updates coming soon! And what keeps you so energized at work?
My co-workers. It’s wonderful working around such a diverse and intelligent group of people. Even while working from home, we remain in constant contact, not just for work but for fun too!
We do enjoy a good social even when we are working remotely! Finally, Chloe can you tell us what’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
It’s not a huge secret as I shared this with the office last summer, but I took a cake decorating class last year, and can now bake and decorate cakes that look and taste pretty amazing! It’s something I now do for family and friends when I have the chance for parties. My favourite thing to make is fondant roses.
Wow! We may have to keep this in mind for the next Webgains event 😉 Thanks Chloe!
