A couple of months ago at Webgains we started “Things we read” email thread to share links to books, articles and videos around professional advice, leadership and well, life in general. It began as a little trial among our Account Directors, but since has grown into a weekly list. Originally posted on LinkedIn, we are now bringing our reading recommendations home – to the Webgains blog. You can find part one below.
Debugging Teams by Brian Fitzpatrick and Ben Collins
Quick and easy read with plenty of concrete advice on productivity, the importance of soft skills and collaboration across multifunctional teams. These guys have a tech background and originally wrote the book for software developers and programmers, but I found it super useful and relevant to any teams.
The Call to Courage talk by Brene Brown on Netflix
Brene Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston. Her research focuses on authentic leadership and wholeheartedness in families, schools, and organisations.
This talk focuses on vulnerability as a prerequisite for courage, for achievement, for risk-taking, and ultimately for a joyous and fulfilling life. I think she became famous after her TED talk.
How to Get Rich (without getting lucky) by Naval Ravikant
Naval Ravikant is the CEO and a co-founder of AngelList. He previously co-founded Epinions (which went public as part of Shopping.com) and Vast.com. He is an active Angel investor, and have invested in dozens of companies, including Twitter, Uber, Yammer, Stack Overflow and Wanelo. This thread is a great read, and Naval is someone to follow on Twitter.
